Earth Day movies

Disney's Earth opens tomorrow, and for every ticket sold between now and April 28, Disney will plant a tree. I've gotten a lot of Earth Day promotions* (or greenwashing attempts) in my inbox, but this one strikes me as pretty significant. The company has already committed to plant half a million trees on the basis of advance ticket sales.
Added benefit comes from teaching your kids to celebrate Earth Day (whatever you might think of it). Enjoying some family time in nature or volunteering to plant trees or clean up trash is certainly the best way to do that. But if you want to end the day with a movie, here is a list of environmentally themed films for the whole family. The latest Bond film is here, too, so don't assume they are boring. The BBC's Planet Earth is absolutely gorgeous and taught this nature-lover more than a few things about the world around us. I can't recommend it strongly enough—and, no, the BBC did not send me a promotional email.*
